Job description

CEIS | Clover Leaf Solutions is seeking a mid-level Industrial Hygienist (IH) to support occupational health and safety programs within laboratory and machine shop environments. This role focuses on planning and executing exposure assessments, conducting air and surface sampling, and identifying potential workplace hazards. The successful candidate will report to a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and support compliance with applicable occupational health regulations and best practices. This position is ideal for a technically proficient IH ready to take ownership of assessments and site walkthroughs, with oversight and mentorship provided by a senior-level CIH.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct exposure monitoring for chemical, physical, and biological agents in laboratory and machine shop settings.
2. Plan and perform exposure assessments based on operational risk and regulatory requirements.
3. Collect and analyze air, surface, and bulk samples using appropriate IH sampling methods and instruments.
4. Perform routine walkdowns, inspections, and hazard evaluations of laboratory workspaces, mechanical areas, and shop environments.
5. Document findings and prepare technical reports outlining sampling methodologies, results, and recommended control measures.
6. Collaborate with health and safety personnel to support hazard communication and mitigation strategies.
7. Maintain proper calibration and use of IH sampling equipment and ensure data integrity.
8. Support audits and regulatory compliance activities as required.
9. Escalate complex or potentially high-risk findings to CIH and project leadership.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or related field.
2. 3–7 years of experience in industrial hygiene or occupational health roles.
3. Experience performing IH monitoring and exposure assessments in non-construction settings (labs, shops, R&D).
4. Familiarity with OSHA, ACGIH, NIOSH, and DOE standards.
5. Strong attention to detail, organization, and technical documentation skills.
6. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently under the direction of a CIH.
7. CIH eligibility or coursework toward certification is a plus, but not required.
