About Jerritt Canyon

The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.

The Opportunity

The Industrial Hygiene Technician performs field and administrative tasks to support Industrial Hygiene programs in surface, underground, and processing operations. This hourly, non-exempt position focuses on exposure monitoring, data collection, equipment maintenance, data entry, and basic reporting under the guidance of Industrial Hygiene professionals.

This position is primarily field-based and requires a self-motivate individual who can independently plan and execute daily sampling activities, manage assigned work, and maintain a high standard of accuracy, professionalism, and accountability while working with limited supervision. Much of the work is performed independently throughout the mining operation, requiring sound judgment, effective time management, and consistent communication with supervisors and operational personnel. The Technician also supports Occupational Health functions as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Occupational Health team with health surveillance activities, data collection, and administrative tasks.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and vehicles in a clean, organized, and serviceable condition.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Supports Occupational Health by:
    • Assisting the collection of health-related data and records.
    • Supporting health promotion and wellness initiatives.
    • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all health-related matters.
  • Safety is a core value and condition of employment. All employees are responsible for working safely, following all procedures, and looking out for the health and safety of themselves and others.

The above duties and responsibilities represent the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
