Job summary

Generac Power Systems is seeking an Industrial Generator Technician in Michigan to service and troubleshoot Emergency Power Solutions (EPSS) and Generac industrial equipment. The role requires 3–4 years of field experience, knowledge of power generation, electrical distribution, and engine technology.

You will work in a production environment with varying weather and heavy equipment, following safety policies and DOT requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• 3–4 years servicing EPSS and Generac industrial certification, as well as related maintenance, startup and troubleshooting competencies.
• Load bank loading and towing and related certifications are required for larger commercial and industrial units.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, connection diagrams, and control systems.
• Understand components and operation of an electrical distribution and transfer switch system.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision, in occasionally adverse outdoor weather conditions.
• Experienced in Electronics, Electromechanical Technology.
• Knowledge of power generation; light tower, products.
• Spark Ignited and Compression ignition internal combustion engine knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma.
• Experience: 3-4 years servicing and troubleshooting Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS), and Generac Industrial certification and related maintenance, startup and troubleshooting competencies, as well as competitive brand industrial repair proficiency. Load bank loading and towing and related certifications are required for larger commercial and industrial units.

Production Environment (Includes professionals who are active on the shop floor) (For Field Technicians):

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
• The employee is frequently required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; and to talk and hear.
• The employee is regularly required to walk, stoop, crouch, bend and reach above shoulders.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away.
• This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment, including seasonal variations in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or byproducts.
• The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing, and shields for required tasks, and closed-toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies.
• The employee must be able to work in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, snow, and ice.
• The employee may be required to obtain a DOT Medical Card and have the ability to drive a heavy-duty truck on a daily basis.
