Job summary

Generac Power Systems, Inc. in Michigan is seeking an Industrial Generator Technician to service and troubleshoot Emergency Power Supply Systems.

You will perform maintenance, startup activities, and diagnostics on Generac industrial equipment at customer sites across the state, with emphasis on reliability and safety. The role requires 3–4 years of field experience, a valid driver license, and Generac Industrial certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• 3-4 years servicing and troubleshooting EPSS, and Generac Industrial certification and related maintenance competencies.
• Load bank loading and towing and related certifications are required for larger commercial and industrial units.
• Valid Driver License.
• Experience with engines from Kohler, Rehlko, CAT, Cummins, Katolight, John Deere, Detroit, MTU, Perkins, or Briggs & Stratton.

Responsibilities

• Service and troubleshoot Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS).
• Perform maintenance, startup and troubleshooting of Generac industrial equipment.
• Conduct load bank testing and fulfill related certifications for larger units.
• Possibly drive to client sites and operate heavy vehicles as required.
• Adhere to safety and PPE requirements on site.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, connection diagrams, and control systems.
• Understand components and operation of an electrical distribution and transfer switch system.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision, in occasionally adverse outdoor weather conditions.
• Experienced in Electronics, Electromechanical Technology.
• Knowledge of power generation; light tower, products.
• Spark Ignited and Compression ignition internal combustion engine knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma.
• Experience: 3-4 years servicing and troubleshooting Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS), and Generac Industrial certification and related maintenance, startup and troubleshooting competencies, as well as competitive brand industrial repair proficiency. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment, including seasonal variations in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or byproducts.
• The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing, and shields for required tasks, and closed‑toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies.
• The employee must be able to work in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, snow, and ice.
• The employee may be required to obtain a DOT Medical Card and have the ability to drive a heavy-duty truck on a daily basis.
