Job summary

Generac distributor is seeking a Generator Service Technician to provide scheduled and emergency repairs of residential, commercial, and industrial generators, with after-hours availability and travel to local sites.

You will maintain your service vehicle inventory, submit detailed service reports, and collaborate with the service manager. The role requires 2+ years of mechanical experience with power generation and a valid driver’s license, offering opportunities for training and career growth.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of mechanical experience with power generation, automotive, or diesel engines.
• Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, heating products, and transfer switch operations.
• Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagrams.
• Preventative maintenance and service experience with ability to travel locally.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide scheduled and emergency/unscheduled repairs of residential, commercial, and industrial generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends and holidays as directed.
• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner.
• Travel around local area for service work while being on call and rotating first to call responsibility.
• Maintain parts and service inventory within company vehicle.
• Create and submit reports for service work completed and project updates.
