Job summary

Generac is seeking a skilled technician in Edison, NJ to perform repairs and services on a variety of generator sets. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of experience in power generation equipment and a solid understanding of mechanical design and circuitry.

What You’ll Do

• Perform repairs and services on all makes and models of generator sets
• Conduct inspections, repairs, services, and start‑up load bank test requirements on equipment
• Troubleshoot equipment and services generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, shutdown switches, and battery systems
• Apply proper engine technical skills in inspection, disassembly, failure analysis, assembly, diagnosis, and engine operating performance tests
• Repair and troubleshoot engines such as Kohler, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, John Deere, MTU and Volvo
• Maintain assigned vehicle inventory and be able to travel throughout the local counties
• Respond to emergency service calls

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of service experience with power generation equipment
• Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, heating products, and transfer switch operations
• Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagrams
• Preventative maintenance and service experience with ability to travel locally
• Valid driver’s license
