Job summary

Interfor Corporation in Eatonton, Georgia is seeking an Industrial Forklift Operator to move lumber throughout the mill. You will operate industrial forklifts, load trucks and railcars, and contribute to safe, efficient shipping operations.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; forklift certification preferred or obtainable. Compensation includes hourly pay in the $19.60–$23.18 range, benefits, and a quarterly bonus opportunity.

Qualifications

• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations, following established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts to move, stack, load, and organize lumber and other materials.
• Load trucks and railcars, including climbing on and off railcars as required.
• Perform daily forklift inspections and report equipment or safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and identify damaged or incorrect materials.
• Keep work areas and equipment clean and address spills or hazards promptly.
• Assist with routine forklift cleaning.
• Follow all company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the shipping and planer mill team to safely and efficiently complete daily loading activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

As an Industrial Forklift Operator in Eatonton, Georgia, you’ll play an important role in the safe and efficient movement of lumber products throughout our manufacturing operation. Working as part of a dedicated operations team, you’ll operate industrial-sized forklifts to move, load, and organize products throughout the mill.

The pay range for this position is from $19.60 – $23.18 per hour based on skill and experience.

What You’ll Do

• Safely operate forklifts to move, stack, load, and organize lumber and other materials.
• Load trucks and railcars, including climbing on and off railcars as required.
• Perform daily forklift inspections and report equipment or safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and identify damaged or incorrect materials.
• Keep work areas and equipment clean and address spills or hazards promptly.
• Assist with routine forklift cleaning.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely and repeatedly climb on and off forklifts, railcars, ladders, steps, and other work surfaces throughout the shift.
• Ability to work safely at elevated heights and from elevated platforms, including climbing onto and working on or around railcars as required.
• Ability to maintain balance and safely navigate uneven, elevated, or restricted work areas.
• Ability to work safely in close proximity to moving forklifts, trucks, railcars, equipment, and machinery within an active shipping environment.
• Ability to perform physical job duties for extended periods and work extended shifts, overtime, and weekends as scheduled or needed.
