Job summary

thyssenkrupp Polysius North America, Inc. is seeking a first shift fitter & welder in Milwaukee, WI.

The role fits and welds fabricated components from flat plate and structural shapes into machinery frames, planetary coolers, round shells, and other fabrications using mild and stainless steel up to 5 inches thick. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED plus 2 years of related welding experience and be proficient in reading engineering drawings, tolerances, and welding symbols.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, tolerances, and welding symbols.
• Experience with flux core welding and submerged arc welding.
• Safety conscious and committed to a safe work environment.
• Ability to read drawings and interpret geometric tolerances.
• Team oriented with ability to work in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Layout, fitting, welding, and cleaning of components to create finished weldments.
• Perform flux core and submerged arc welding.
• Self-inspection of completed work.
• Operate cranes, forklifts, and hand/power tools as required.
• Adhere to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Work with others in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
