Job summary

Rural Metro Fire in Desoto, Kansas seeks an Industrial Firefighter/EMT to perform fire suppression, medical care, alarm investigations, and prevention support at the Panasonic facility. You will work under supervision to maintain readiness, train, and report accurately.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age and high school diploma or GED.
• At least three years of fire service experience, or RMF-approved equivalent pathway.
• Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications.
• Hazardous Materials Operations qualification under NFPA 470.
• Kansas EMT certification or eligibility to obtain.
• AHA BLS/CPR/AED or RMF-approved equivalent.
• NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 training.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; background screening and medical clearance.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly and safely to fire alarms, fires, medical calls, hazmat incidents, and other emergencies; follow incident command, communications, accountability, and safety procedures.
• Perform fire suppression and rescue support tasks; recognize hazards and request assistance when conditions exceed capabilities.
• Provide emergency medical care at the Kansas EMT level; prepare timely, accurate patient care reports.
• Operate assigned tools, PPE, SCBA, and other equipment after training; drive or operate apparatus only when qualified.
• Inspect PPE, SCBA, apparatus, medical supplies, and tools; report missing or damaged items.
• Maintain apparatus, station, and inventory in ready condition; complete inventory and routine maintenance tasks.
• Complete incident, training, equipment, and daily unit activity records; maintain professional communications.
• Follow shift assignments and support relief/handoff procedures to preserve coverage.
