Job summary

Rural Metro Fire in Desoto, KS is seeking an Industrial Fire Captain/EMT to lead RMF fire company operations at the Panasonic facility. You will direct shift activities, maintain crew readiness, ensure personnel safety, and supervise emergency response within approved site capabilities.

The Captain may function as initial Incident Commander until command is transferred to a higher-ranking officer and reports to the Site Fire Chief or RMF designee.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
• Five years of full-time fire service experience with demonstrated leadership.
• Firefighter I and II credentials and Fire Officer I.
• Hazardous Materials Operations certification per NFPA 470 or equivalent.
• Current Kansas EMT certification or eligibility to obtain it before providing EMS care.
• NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 300, 700, and 800 training or RMF-approved equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate assigned apparatus; background checks and medical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift operations, assign tasks, supervise crew, and ensure crew readiness.
• Direct emergency response and incident command within site plans and RMF SOPs.
• Maintain equipment, PPE/SCBA readiness, and safety culture.
• Document incidents, staffing, training, and inspections within deadlines.
