Job summary

Rural/Metro Fire seeks a firefighter/EMT to respond to emergencies, administer first aid, and perform routine maintenance and inspections of firefighting equipment. The role requires physical fitness and adherence to safety protocols, with a shift-based schedule and potential travel for live-fire burns.

The candidate must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and hold or obtain required credentials (EMT-B, CPR/AED). Training in NFPA standards is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Responds to fires with company, using hose/nozzle and tools, following procedures.
• Administers first aid to injured parties per training level.
• Performs monthly fire protection checks (extinguishers, PIVs, interior valves).
• Issues and audits daily Hot Work Permits.
• Safely operates company vehicles and equipment.
• Maintains fire and rescue apparatus and equipment; conducts testing and maintenance.
• Keeps offices, grounds, facilities, and supplies clean and usable.
• Performs routine non-firefighting tasks like records and time cards.
• Meets physical requirements for firefighting tasks.
• Keeps up-to-date on modern fire suppression tactics.
• Projects a professional image to clients and follows policies.
