Job summary

Aggreko plc in Houston, TX is seeking an Industrial Field Technician to support temporary cooling tower solutions at refineries and heavy industrial facilities.

You will install and set up equipment, perform maintenance and repairs, assist with piping and electrical tasks, test systems, and oversee decommissioning after projects. The role demands outdoor, hands-on work and strong safety discipline, with training and career growth opportunities provided.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial construction, refinery/petrochemical work, pipe fitting, millwright/mechanical work, industrial maintenance, pump service, field service, or similar heavy industrial environment.
• Cooling tower experience is valuable but candidates with transferable mechanical/electrical skills should also be considered.
• Ability to read schematics and interpret technical drawings.
• Forklift certification/experience and manlift/aerial lift certification/experience.
• Refinery/heavy industrial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install and set up temporary cooling tower equipment.
• Perform pumps and motors installation, maintenance, repair, and rotation checks.
• Carry out basic industrial electrical work and troubleshooting at apprentice level.
• Maintain and inspect cooling tower equipment.
• Support piping/hoses and valve operation; assist with hookups for heat exchangers and chillers.
• Test equipment and prepare for deployment on site.
• Execute equipment teardown/decommissioning after project completion.
• Maintain daily jobsite safety and inventory responsibilities.

Bring your energy to Aggreko as an Industrial Field Technician based in Houston, TX.

You’llsupport temporary cooling tower solutions primarily at refineries and heavy industrial facilities. Technician supports the full project lifecycle, including equipment installation/setup, ongoing maintenance and repair while deployed, and equipment decommissioning/teardown.

What you'll do as an Industrial Field Technician:

• Significant pipe fitting, piping and hose hookup
• Installation/setup of temporary cooling tower equipment
• Pumps and motors - installation, maintenance, repair/replacement and rotation checks
• Basic industrial electrical work/troubleshooting; approximately electrician-apprentice level
• Cooling tower equipment maintenance and inspection
• Supporting heat exchanger and chiller hookups through piping/hoses; not heavy HVAC/chiller repair
• Equipment testing and preparation
• Manual valve operation and other physically demanding field work
• Equipment teardown/decommissioning after project completion
• Daily jobsite safety and inventory responsibilities

You are:

• Comfortable working outdoors/onsite in industrial environments and handling heavy equipment/components. Some manual valves weigh approximately 120 lbs. and require appropriate team/mechanical handling.

• Must be able to stand,walkand sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrainwith functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices

• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs.), push/pull (80 lbs.), carry (60 lbs.), climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs.), stoop, kneel and squat
