Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Industrial Field Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, and maintain specialized manufacturing machinery. This role requires approximately 80% travel, primarily domestic with occasional trips to Mexico, and 55+ lb lifting capacity.

You will diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, read schematics, and document repairs using Salesforce, collaborating with engineering and support teams.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Technology, or a related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience providing technical service to customers if no engineering degree.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Understanding of industrial electrical controls and how mechanical and electrical systems interact.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and technical prints.
• Experience using hand tools, electrical diagnostic instruments, and precision measuring equipment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel 80% or more based on customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer facilities to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control system issues.
• Identify equipment failures, determine root causes, and develop effective repair solutions.
• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment upgrades, and machine improvements.
• Evaluate repair requirements, including necessary parts, resources, and estimated completion times.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, engineering prints, and technical documentation.
• Utilize diagnostic and precision measuring equipment, including multimeters, micrometers, calipers, and oscilloscopes.
• Assist with machine assembly and equipment builds as needed.
• Coordinate service schedules and communicate technical findings with customers and internal departments.
• Document completed repairs, replacement parts, and service activities using Salesforce.
• Prepare service reports, expense reports, and required documentation following customer visits.
• Identify opportunities for replacement parts, tooling, and ongoing equipment support.
• Travel to Mexico, as needed.

This position requires approximately 80% travel, primarily domestic, with occasional travel to Mexico as needed. Technicians are typically home on weekends, although some projects may require extended travel lasting 1–2 weeks. Ideal candidates bring strong electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting experience.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently at customer facilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel 80% or more based on customer requirements.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds, reach overhead, and stoop to floor level.

Preferred Qualifications

• PLC troubleshooting or programming knowledge.
• Experience servicing CNC machines, industrial automation equipment, or specialized manufacturing machinery.
• Previous customer-facing field service experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
