Job summary

SkyWater Technology, Inc. in Austin, TX is seeking an Industrial Facilities Maintenance Technician - Central Utilities to maintain critical utility systems in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.

You will work across cooling and HVAC systems, boilers, water treatment, cleanroom readiness, and preventive maintenance, ensuring uptime and safety. The role requires extensive hands-on experience in facilities maintenance, strong mechanical and electrical skills, and a proactive approach to

Qualifications

  • Vocational/professional training of at least 3 years.
  • 8+ years of manufacturing or operations experience, boiler repairs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, mechanical aptitude, minor electrical and controls proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cooling systems (chillers, glycol chillers, cooling towers, water treatment) and refrigerant handling.
  • Maintain HVAC systems (FTU’s, MAU, air flow, cleanroom filters, DX units).
  • Ensure cleanroom readiness; instrumentations, filters, and general materials; contribute to preventive maintenance.

Primary Objective:


We are looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician- Central Utilities, to join the team in Austin.


Major Areas of Accountability :



  • Operations expert for cooling systems (chillers, glycol chillers, cooling towers, process cooling water, water treatment). Ability to remove and charge refrigerants for chiller systems.

  • Operations expert for HVAC systems (FTU’s, make-up air handler units, air flow patterns, cleanroom filters, DX units)

  • Clear understanding of requirements behind sustaining a cleanroom (characterization, instrumentation, filters, and general materials)

  • Operations expert for hot water systems (boilers), compressed air system, process vacuum. Ability to work on boilers and make repairs.

  • Operations expert for scrubbing systems and general exhaust

  • Responsible for operating and maintaining equipment and alarm response.

  • Mechanical inclination and ability to make or assist with repairs

  • Ability to obtain bids, issue purchase reqs, and schedule and coordinate necessary work with contractors as needed.

  • Maintain inventory and spare parts

  • Responsible for reviewing and ensuring preventative maintenance are completed to spec and to planned schedule. Responsible for system upkeep and implementing or modify PM’s accordingly.

  • Active lead in department operations and SPC meetings

  • SPC monitoring in accordance with facilities specs

  • Support root cause analysis on incidents

  • Work within defined technical processes and procedures

  • Initiate and drive continuous improvements, strive for impact

  • Ability to adapt and move quickly to accomplish goals

  • Uphold area upkeep and 5S principles

  • Adhere to environmental health and safety policies

  • Ability to complete job hazard assessments alongside contractors and internal teams

  • Collaborate cross-departmentally, elevate as required

  • Clear and effective communication

  • Maintenance and creation of standard operating procedures

  • Detail-oriented record keeping and reporting

  • Ability to take care of tasks as required to maintain a facility

  • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack


Required Qualifications:



  • Education: a relevant completed vocational/professional training of at least 3 years

  • Experience: 8+ years of manufacturing or operations experience, boiler repairs

  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, mechanical aptitude, minor electrical and controls proficiency


Physical Requirements:


Ability to at times work in a cleanroom environment


Ability to work in a manufacturing setting that includes bending or crouching


Desired Qualifications:



  • Proficiency in AutoCAD

  • Electrical proficiency
