Job summary

SkyWater Technology, Inc. is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician specializing in diffusion to support production at our Austin, TX site.

The role emphasizes troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and equipment upgrades to ensure high‑quality semiconductor fabrication. You will work with engineers and vendors, adhere to safety and cleanroom standards, and participate in cross‑functional maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• 2 year technical/associate degree or equivalent military training/work experience.
• 3-5 years in equipment maintenance within the semiconductor industry.
• Ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical and fluidic circuits.
• Analytical troubleshooting methods and strong documentation skills.
• Cross-functional collaboration and project planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, repair, and assemble equipment per layout plans and manuals.
• Use test/diagnostic equipment to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Perform preventive and unscheduled maintenance on production equipment.
• Maintain quality documentation and records.
• Rebuild equipment/sub-assemblies and modify equipment as directed.
• Coordinate with engineers and vendors; participate in 5S+ and CIP projects.
• Handle chemicals and manage spares/inventory.

SkyWater is hiring anEquipment Maintenance Technician who specializes in Diffusion.

Hours: A S hift : Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday from 6: 55 am to 7:10 pm.

Major Areas of Accountability:

• Dismantle, adjust, repair and assemble equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating and repair manuals.
• Use test and diagnostic equipment to identify root cause problems and put corrective actions in place.
• Perform preventive and unscheduled maintenance duties on production equipment.
• Complete and maintain required documentation for quality standards.
• Rebuild equipment and sub-assemblies as required.
• Perform equipment modifications as directed by engineers.
• Participate in Maintenance or cross-functional teams such as 5S+ and CIP.
• Take ownership of small projects and equipment assembly tasks
• Work with outside vendors as required.
• Process chemical and gas handling
• Maintains critical spares and consumables inventory.

Required Qualifications:

Education: 2 Year Technical/associate’s degree in science, Math, Engineering, Semi-Conductor Manufacturing or a related discipline or equivalent military training / work experience.

Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in an Equipment Maintenance role within the Semiconductor industry
• Demonstrated expertise in performing electro\\mechanical\\fluidic circuit troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance, and equipment modification.
• Capable of demonstrating analytical troubleshooting methods (Root Cause Analysis, 8D Problem Solving, and 5-why), and First Time Right repair skills
• Able to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks and required documentation; demonstrate solid work performance in an environment requiring high level of attention to detail and timeliness.
• Ability to define, initiate, manage, and execute projects to improve tool function and metrics. The ability to work in a cross-functional team environment, prioritize tasks, and plan for maintenance is essential
• Use hand tools including wrenches, calipers, voltage/current meters, oscilloscopes and other various equipment technology specific tooling

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
• Ability to work with and around chemicals.
• Wear complete fab attire for an entire shift and meet all safety and cleanroom requirements.
