Job summary

Van-Packer, a manufacturer of chimney, venting and grease duct exhaust systems, seeks a Drafter/Estimator to translate drawings into accurate layouts, cost estimates and documentation. You will collaborate with sales, engineers and contractors, and help ensure designs meet listings while remaining cost-competitive.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent hands-on drafting/engineering tech experience.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Experience in mechanical drafting, estimating or quoting.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and architectural drawings.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specs and bid documents to define scope and materials.
• Develop system layouts, detail drawings and shop drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Prepare cost estimates and quotations with material takeoffs and labor estimates.
• Assemble submittal packages, installation instructions and engineering specs.
• Serve as technical resource to sales and engineers for product selection.
• Coordinate with manufacturing to confirm fabrication feasibility and listing compliance.
• Propose design alternatives to reduce cost while maintaining quality and listings.
• Manage multiple projects and meet bid and submittal deadlines.
