Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a production operator to set up and operate high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions. This role reports to the Plant Manager and emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficiency on a full-time, on-site basis.

Responsibilities include advanced equipment setup, quality inspections throughout production, records maintenance, and collaboration with maintenance and QA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to maintain production records and logs.
• Manufacturing or related industrial experience preferred.
• Ability to perform math, decimals, fractions.
• Experience with measuring devices (tape, micrometers, calipers).
• Ability to operate forklift, crane and related equipment.
• Detail oriented with ability to work independently.
• Regular, full-time, on-site attendance is essential.
• Lead and promote health and safety practices as required.

Responsibilities

• Observe all safety and LOTO rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively.
• Advanced setup and calibration of all equipment.
• Inspect materials for quality before, during, and after production.
• Record and report any deficiencies in quality to supervisor/quality dept.
• Maintain equipment tooling and tools needed for job completion.
• Diagnose equipment and quality problems to minimize scrap and delays.
• Keep work areas clean and safe through housekeeping tasks.
• Complete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
• Assist in repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
