Job description

Company Overview: Best Promotions, an HPG Brands company, is a leading decorator and supplier of a wide variety of advertising specialty products to the promotional products industry.

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Equipment Technician to join our maintenance team. This is an intermediate-level position for someone with solid hands-on industrial maintenance experience who can troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of production equipment.

This position is primarily focused on industrial equipment maintenance and repair, with occasional assistance with basic facility maintenance as needed.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with electrical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, heating systems, motors, and industrial machinery, and able to work through equipment problems using a logical troubleshooting process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial production equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical problems using a systematic troubleshooting process.
  • Troubleshoot electrical components including motors, contactors, relays, breakers, sensors, switches, heating elements, thermocouples, and control circuits.
  • Safely use a multimeter to check voltage, continuity, resistance, amperage, and electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems, including air cylinders, solenoids, valves, regulators, fittings, and air lines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, motors, cylinders, hoses, valves, fittings, and leaks.
  • Diagnose and replace heating elements, temperature sensors, thermocouples, contactors, and temperature-control components.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot heated oil drum / oil-filled heat-transfer equipment, including heating systems, circulation components, sensors, and related mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot electric motors, pumps, blowers, fans, bearings, belts, chains, sprockets, couplings, and other mechanical drive components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, adjustments, cleaning, and replacement of worn components.
  • Read basic electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and mechanical drawings.
  • Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and improvements.
  • Respond to production equipment breakdowns and work to safely return equipment to operation as quickly as possible.
  • Document repairs, findings, parts used, and preventive maintenance work in the maintenance system.
  • Follow proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other facility safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance work area.
Occasional Facility Support

While the primary focus of this position is industrial equipment, the technician may occasionally assist the maintenance team with basic facility-related needs, including:

  • Minor plumbing repairs such as toilets, faucets, drains, and small leaks.
  • Basic facility repairs and adjustments.
  • Minor hardware, door, or fixture repairs.
  • Cleanup following maintenance work, equipment leaks, spills, or repairs.
  • Assisting with general facility maintenance when needed.
  • Helping maintain clean and safe mechanical, production, and maintenance areas.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance or industrial equipment technician experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience using a multimeter for troubleshooting.
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting heating elements and temperature-control systems.
  • Familiarity with motors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, belts, chains, and other industrial mechanical components.
  • Ability to read basic electrical schematics and equipment documentation.
  • Ability to identify the root cause of equipment failures instead of simply replacing parts.
  • Comfortable working around industrial machinery, grease, oil, compressed air, and production environments.
  • Willingness to occasionally assist with basic facility maintenance and cleanup when needed.
  • Ability to work independently on routine repairs while knowing when to escalation more complex issues.
  • Trade school, technical certification, or equivalent industrial maintenance experience is a plus.
What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who already has a solid maintenance foundation and can come in with real hands-on troubleshooting experience. This is not an entry-level position, but it also does not require the experience level of a Senior Industrial Maintenance Technician.

A strong candidate should be able to look at a machine that is not operating correctly, understand how the electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and heating systems work together, and begin narrowing down the cause of the problem.

We want someone who is hands-on and willing to jump in where needed. The majority of the job will involve industrial equipment, but everyone on the maintenance team helps when necessary whether that's repairing a machine, fixing a minor plumbing issue, cleaning up after a repair, or helping take care of the facility.

Dependability, ownership, safety, teamwork, and a willingness to continue learning are important for this position.
