Job summary

RTX is seeking a motivated student for an onsite internship/co-op in Iowa to support manufacturing processes and drive process improvements. You will help with layouts, work sequences, and fixture design using CAD tools while learning cost-control and productivity optimization techniques.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, with enthusiasm for teamwork, continuous improvement, and hands-on problem solving.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field and enrolled through internship/co-op.
• Strong ability to analyze processes and identify root causes for improvements.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing processes, including equipment, floor layouts, work sequences, work instructions, procedures, and workflow.
• Conduct studies on cost control, productivity, cost reduction, inventory, and production record systems.
• Review products and processes for quality, safety, and producibility risks, collaborating with design teams to mitigate those risks.
• Design and 3D print fixtures and tooling to support process improvements.
• Independently resolve complex and challenging problems.
• Develop tactical plans to address day-to-day challenges.

What You Will Do

Qualifications You Must Have

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field. and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship or co-op session.

• Experience with CAD software.

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
