Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Summer 2027 Industrial Engineering Intern to support the USPS CRF contract in Topeka, KS. This onsite role provides hands-on exposure to improving workflow, time studies, and layout optimization within repair and refurbishment operations.

You will collect and analyze production data, contribute to Lean initiatives, and help develop SOPs and job aids. Applicants must be full-time students graduating after August 2027 with a degree in Industrial/Systems/Manufacturing

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain USPS security clearance.
Must be enrolled full-time and graduating after August 2027.
Majoring in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
GPA 3.0/4.0 or higher (transcripts required).
Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for at least 10 weeks in Summer 2027.
Local to Topeka, KS or able to commute onsite daily.

Responsibilities

Apply industrial engineering principles to improve workflow, throughput, and process efficiency in CRF repair/refurbishment.
Develop time studies, process flow diagrams, and layout optimizations.
Support Lean, root-cause analysis, and waste-reduction initiatives.
Collect, analyze, and report production data to identify improvements.
Evaluate tooling, material handling, and workstation design for ergonomics and efficiency.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams on standardization and documentation.
Assist in creating or updating SOPs and job aids.
