Job summary

Toshiba International Corporation (TIC) in Houston invites a motivated Industrial Engineering Intern to support manufacturing improvement projects. You will perform time studies, analyze data, and help develop standard work, layouts, and processes on the production floor.

Gain hands‑on experience in a large manufacturing environment, work with IE, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, and contribute to safety, quality, productivity, and reporting enhancements.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or closely related field.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Interest in manufacturing operations, process improvement, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret data.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Comfortable working in an active manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Support IE and manufacturing improvement projects within TIC production operations.
• Conduct time studies and process observations to evaluate cycle times, labor utilization, workflow, and efficiency.
• Analyze data to identify bottlenecks, waste, and improvement opportunities.
• Assist with developing and improving standard work, work instructions, and processes.
• Evaluate workflows, layouts, material movement, and manufacturing processes.
• Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with implementation of process improvements on the production floor.
• Collect and analyze data to measure performance and validate improvements.
• Support manufacturing data and digitalization initiatives for better reporting and visibility.
• Collaborate with production employees and cross‑functional teams to develop practical solutions.
• Prepare project documentation, analyses, recommendations, and presentations.
• Participate in meetings and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Perform other IE and manufacturing‑support activities as assigned.
