Job summary

RTX's Collins Aerospace division invites motivated engineering students to join a full-time co-op in Bellevue, IA. The session runs Monday–Friday from June to December, and students may take a coursework break to fully engage in this mentorship program.

You will work directly with operators, inspectors, quality personnel, and test technicians to resolve day-to-day issues and drive longer‑term improvements, including tooling design using 3D printing and layout optimization in a manufacturing

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co‑op session.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, or equivalent preferred.
• Relevant experience can be obtained through on‑the‑job training, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

• Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session that will run from June to December.
• Work directly with our manufacturing production floor employees, including operators, inspectors, quality personnel, and test technicians, to solve day-to-day issues and proactively work on longer‑term projects to eliminate recurring issues.
• Design tooling to aid the manufacturing process, utilizing additive manufacturing (3D printing) to support production needs.
• Participate in the analysis of optimal layout, flow, building, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of electronic or electro‑mechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems.
• Assist in planning the allocation of resources, materials, and personnel to maximize the utilization of equipment.
• Conduct studies focused on cost control, productivity improvement, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.

What You Will Learn:

• Work side by side with our Industrial Engineers (and other engineering functions) to gain firsthand industrial engineering experience and learn broad aspects of engineering in a manufacturing environment.
• Develop expertise in resolving manufacturing issues related to safety, ergonomics, quality, flow, and cost.
• Strengthen your ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross‑functional teams through various day‑to‑day tasks and projects.
• Build critical time management and prioritization skills necessary to succeed in the industrial engineering field.
• Learn how to plan the sequence of operations, create manufacturing documents, develop standard work guidelines, and establish product routings.

Qualifications You Must Have:

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Incentive Compensation Programs

• Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
