Job summary

RTX Bellevue, IA offers a full-time on-site co-op/internship program from January to August, collaborating with manufacturing floor teams to address daily issues and develop tooling via 3D printing to support production.

You will gain hands-on industrial engineering experience, learn to plan resource allocation, optimize layouts and workflows, and contribute to safety, quality and cost improvements in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering and enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360 or equivalent.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session that will run from January to August.
• Work directly with manufacturing floor employees to solve day-to-day issues and proactively tackle long-term projects.
• Design tooling to aid the manufacturing process using additive manufacturing (3D printing).
• Assist in analyzing layouts, flow, building, testing, troubleshooting, repair and modification of devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems.
• Assist in planning resource, material and personnel allocation to maximize equipment utilization.
• Conduct studies focused on cost control, productivity improvement, cost reduction, inventory control and production records.

What You Will Do:

• Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session that will run from January to August. This includes the summer, and it is expected that students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage in this working mentorship opportunity.


• Work directly with our manufacturing production floor employees, including operators, inspectors, quality personnel, and test technicians, to solve day-to-day issues and proactively work on longer-term projects to eliminate recurring issues.


• Design tooling to aid the manufacturing process, utilizing additive manufacturing (3D printing) to support production needs.


• Participate in the analysis of optimal layout, flow, building, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of electronic or electro-mechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems.


• Assist in planning the allocation of resources, materials, and personnel to maximize the utilization of equipment.


• Conduct studies focused on cost control, productivity improvement, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.

What You Will Learn:

• Work side by side with our Industrial Engineers (and other engineering functions) to gain firsthand industrial engineering experience and learn broad aspects of engineering in a manufacturing environment.


• Develop expertise in resolving manufacturing issues related to safety, ergonomics, quality, flow, and cost.


• Strengthen your ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams through various day-to-day tasks and projects.


• Build critical time management and prioritization skills necessary to succeed in the industrial engineering field.


• Learn how to plan the sequence of operations, create manufacturing documents, develop standard work guidelines, and establish product routings.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, or equivalent.


• Relevant experience can be obtained through on-the-job training, research, coursework, or projects.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
