The Process Engineer / Technical Support Specialist is responsible for driving process improvements, supporting equipment performance, optimizing work center layouts, and maintaining high operational efficiency across production and distribution activities. This role also provides technical support for systems, hardware, and software critical to daily operations. The position integrates engineering problem-solving, packaging development, lean tools, and IT support to ensure seamless production, material handling, and information flow.
Applies lean methodologies, benchmarking, and improvement strategies to standard processes. Works with operations to optimize work center layouts, material flow, containerization, visual controls, and standard quantities. Designs and installs visual controls. Reviews, evaluates, and recommends material handling and processing equipment. Supports continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
Reviews unitizing jobs for efficiency and potential reassignment. Analyzes job requirements to determine proper work center placement. Obtains Packaging Engineer approval when packaging changes are required . Assigns jobs to new work centers and prepares job lists prior to new equipment setup. Identifies which jobs should move to new machines and obtain management approval. Analyzes belt line utilization to level workload. Creates sub-kits to reduce loose components.
Creates Visual Bills of Material (BOMs) for belt line operations. Calculates labor and materia l s savings. Provides packaging engineering support, including alternative material approval. Generate floor layouts for work center rearrangements and new equipment placement.
Responsible for ensuring repairs and improvements are completed on all equipment. Collaborates with Machine Repair and Electrical teams to resolve equipment issues. Contact technical representatives as needed. Programs equipment and maintains working knowledge of all equipment. Assists operators with machine operations and issues.
Identifies system requirements and hardware/software needs. Assists with technical issue resolution. Acts as liaison between plant and Cybel/HP for PCCS and ATEC systems. Provides software support for Microsoft Office applications, SAP, and RF systems. Provides hardware support for internal systems and maintains Tek Logix hardware requests. Acts as direct support contact for the ECU Crib.
