Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette, IN is seeking an Industrial Engineer for the 3rd shift to develop and optimize work measurement, layouts, and capacity planning for safe, efficient production of the T-7 trainer. You will work as a bridge between Manufacturing Engineering and production, applying Lean principles to improve processes, standardize cycles, and drive cost-effective manufacturing.

Required: B.S. in IE, 2+ years in manufacturing, problem-solving, collaboration; preferred: aerospace experience;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline required.
• 2+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Driven, innovative and takes initiative without being asked.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate across functional areas within an operation.
• Able to work extended or flexible schedule to support the business.
• Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of production systems and working methods to achieve low production costs without compromising function and quality.
• Contribute to development of new technical solutions and efficient production systems based on Lean principles.
• Drive improved process planning for current and new products.
• Standardize assembly practices and cycle times.
• Model short and long-term production strategies for rate changes and headcount.
• Develop production flows and layouts.
• Drive continuous improvement for efficient production.
• Champion Saab values and professional conduct.
• Perform other project tasks as assigned.
