Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Summer 2027 Industrial Engineering Intern to support the USPS Central Repair Facility contract in Topeka, KS. This onsite internship offers exposure to workflow optimization, time studies, and Lean improvement projects within a repair and refurbishment environment.

You will collect and analyze production data, help evaluate tooling and workstation design, and collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to standardize processes and documentation.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship and ability to obtain USPS security clearance.
• Full-time enrolled undergraduate or graduate student graduating after August 2027.
• GPA 3.0/4.0 or higher, transcripts required.
• Local to Topeka, KS or able to commute onsite daily.

Responsibilities

• Apply industrial engineering principles to improve workflow and efficiency at the CRF repair/ refurbishment environment.
• Develop time studies, process flow diagrams, and equipment layout optimizations.
• Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives, root-cause analysis, and waste reduction.
• Collect, analyze, and report production data to identify opportunities.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams on standardization and documentation.
• Assist in creating or updating SOPs, job aids, and technical process documentation.
