Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Colorado Springs is seeking an Industrial Engineer III to analyze, design, and optimize production systems to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and ensure safe operations onsite. You will apply lean methodologies, conduct time studies, and lead cross-functional process improvements across manufacturing lines.

The role requires STEM degree and 5+ years experience, U.S. citizenship, and proficiency with Excel, Minitab, and MES.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree and 5+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship required for access to program/contract information.
• Experience with lean manufacturing, process optimization, and time study techniques.
• Experience with data analysis tools and manufacturing software (Excel, Minitab, MES).

Responsibilities

• Define, develop and implement processes, equipment, fixtures, routings, tooling and standard work for production lines.
• Evaluate and adjust manufacturing processes using time studies, workflow analysis, and data modeling.
• Lead cross-functional process improvements to increase throughput and reduce waste.
• Design and optimize workstation layouts, material flow, and equipment/labor utilization.
• Lead Lean, CORE and Kaizen initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
• Conduct capacity analysis, production planning, and labor/equipment studies.
• Lead new product introduction by developing efficient manufacturing processes.
• Develop production models, time standards and data-driven insights for planning.
• Monitor safety, ergonomics and compliance with manufacturing standards.
• Mentor junior industrial engineers and promote best practices.

We are looking for an Industrial Engineer III to work onsite at our Colorado Springs facility. You will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing production systems and processes to improve efficiency, reduce cost, enhance quality, and ensure safe operations. This role applies engineering principles, data analysis, and lean methodologies to support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

What You Will Do:

• Define, develop and implement processes, including equipment, fixture design, routings, programming, tooling, and standard work support our production lines and meet all applicable drawing requirements.
• Evaluate and adjust manufacturing processes using time studies, workflow analysis, and data modeling.
• Lead complex, cross-functional process improvements to increase throughput, reduce waste, and improve operational performance.
• Design and optimize workstation layouts, material flow, and equipment and labor utilization.
• Lead Lean, CORE and Kaizen methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
• Conduct capacity analysis, production planning, and labor/equipment utilization studies.
• Lead new product introduction by developing efficient manufacturing processes and tooling.
• Develop and implement advanced production models, time standards, and data-driven insights that inform operational and capital planning decisions
• Monitor safety, ergonomics, and compliance with applicable manufacturing standards.
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior industrial engineers, promoting capability development and consistent application of best practices.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
• Experience with practical application of lean manufacturing, process optimization, and time study techniques.
• Experience in data analysis tools and manufacturing software (e.g., Excel, Minitab, MES).

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Industrial Engineering Experience in a manufacturing or operations environment.
• Familiarity with CAD tools, simulation software, or ergonomic analysis tools.
• Experience with SAP.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
