Job summary

Safran S.A. is seeking an Industrial Engineer Level II to join the Cabin industrialization team in California. You will provide complex technical assistance for industrialization deliverables across programs and support cost-effective manufacturing methods for interior components.

You will drive lean initiatives, coordinate with design, manufacturing, and facilities to ensure smooth production ramp, develop detailed phasing for new lines, and represent the team in program meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years related experience in highly regulated engineering design or production environment.
• Advanced understanding of ERP systems, CATIA V5 & Smarteam, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with reading engineering drawings and models; knowledge of Lean tools (VSM, 5S) and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Project manage Cabin industrialization deliverables on new programs as part of the integrated program team.
• Develop and execute Industrialization plans in accordance with Cabin standards and program goals.
• Represent the industrialization team in customer and program meetings as required.
• Create the production element of the industrial dossier, including BOMs, Routers, and standard work instructions.
• Work with Design and Manufacturing teams to develop optimal production processes for each product type.
• Coordinate with Facilities to allocate production floor space and support per schedule.
• Provide feedback to Design group for DFMA (design for manufacture and assembly).
• Integrate plans for tooling and prototypes from tooling engineering teams on the new program.

Join our first-class team to reinvent in-flight experience. In the role of Industrial Engineer Level II you'll play a pivotal part on our industrialization team. The Industrial Engineer 2 provides complex technical assistance to Cabin industrialization deliverables on programs as part of the integrated program team. Support for effective industrialization of each new program. Provide Industrial Engineering technical expertise and coordination during the development of aircraft interior components. Responsible for contributing to most cost effective methods to create products.

This position contributes to our vision by:

• Project manage Cabin industrialization deliverables on new programs as part of the integrated program team
• Develop and execute Industrialization plans in accordance with Cabin standards and program goals
• Represent the industrialization team in customer and program meetings as required
• Create the production element of the industrial dossier, mainly Manufacturing Bill of Materials, Routers, Standardized work instructions (including operation's allocated time)
• Work with the Design and Manufacturing teams to develop optimal production processes for each product type
• Coordinate with Facilities to ensure that the necessary production floor space and support is allocated in conjunction with the required schedule
• Provide feedback to Design group for DFMA (design for manufacture and assembly)
• Integrate plan for the design, manufacture and implementation of new tools or prototypes from the tooling engineering teams on the new program
• Develop a detailed phasing schedule for implementation of new lines
• Develop Cycle time and Takt Time standards and plans to achieve them
• Maintain industrialization metrics in line with Cabin standard KPI's and communicate performance on a regular basis
• Analyze and manage industrial process and product risks during development
• Champion and implement Lean principles
• Lead and participate in Kaizen and 3P events to develop improvements and plans
• Support Departmental and Personal Objectives/Measurements

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.

Experience: Minimum 3 years related experience in highly regulated engineering design or production environment.

Computer Skills:

• Advanced understanding of ERP systems
• Working knowledge of CATIA V5 & Smarteam
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Other Skills:

• Experience working at an aircraft or other aerospace OEM
• Significant knowledge of common materials and manufacturing processes used in the aerospace industry
• Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and models
• Use of LEAN tools like VSM and 5S
• Proven organization and communication skills
• Ability to work well independently and cross-functionally with minimal oversight.
• Strong communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of primary processes like CNC machining, Layup and Crush Core
• White Belt Trained
