Job summary

Safran Cabin in Carson, California is seeking an Industrial Engineer I to help industrialize cabin programs as part of the integrated program team. You will assist in effective industrialization of new programs and provide IE support during development of aircraft interior components.

Responsibilities include creating production artifacts (BOMs, Routers, standardized work instructions), working with Design and Manufacturing to optimize processes, and contributing to DFMA feedback.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
• Experience of 1 year in a highly regulated engineering design or production environment.
• Knowledge of LEAN tools and ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Cabin industrialization deliverables on new programs as part of the integrated program team.
• Develop and execute industrialization plans in accordance with Cabin standards and program goals.
• Create production elements: BOMs, routers, and standardized work instructions with operation times.
• Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing to optimize production processes for different product types.
• Provide feedback to Design group for DFMA (design for manufacture and assembly).
• Assist in integrating design, manufacture, and tooling for new programs.
• Develop cycle time and takt time standards and maintain KPI metrics.
• Support lean implementation and regulatory compliance throughout development.

Assist in effective industrialization of each new program. Provide Industrial Engineering support and coordination during the development of aircraft interior components. Participate in determining most cost effective methods to create products.Summary of Duties:1. Contribute to Cabin industrialization deliverables on new programs as part of the integrated program team2. Contribute to development and execution of Industrialization plans in accordance with Cabin standards and program goals3. Assist in creating the production element of the industrial dossier, mainly Manufacturing Bill of Materials, Routers, Standardized work instructions (including operation's allocated time)4. Work with the Design and Manufacturing teams to develop optimal production processes for each product type5. Provide feedback to Design group for DFMA (design for manufacture and assembly)6. Assist in integrating the design, manufacture and implementation of new tools or prototypes from the tooling engineering teams on the new program7. Develop Cycle time and Takt Time standards.8. Maintain industrialization metrics in line with Cabin standard KPI's and communicate performance on a regular basis9. Perform basic analysis and manage industrial process and product risks during development10. Champion and implement Lean principles - White Belt Level11. Know and understand regulatory requirements, customer specifications and company specifications12. Understand and assist with machining, assembly lines, BOM creation, line layout concepts13. Be conversant with many site manufacturing procedures14. Understand engineering drawing and how they relate to manufacturability15. Working knowledge of assembly line and composites manufacturing16. Perform all other duties as assignedJob RequirementsLevel 1 Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.Experience: Minimum 1 year related experience in highly regulated engineering design or production environment.Computer Skills:• Basic understanding of ERP systems• Basic functional knowledge of CATIA V5 & Smarteam• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Other Skills:• Experience working at an aircraft or other aerospace OEM• Knowledge of common materials and manufacturing processes used in the aerospace industry• Proven ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and models• Knowledge of LEAN tools• Basic organization and communication skills• Ability to work well independently and cross-functionally with significant oversight and review• Basic communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills• Basic knowledge of primary processes like CNC machining, Layup and Crush CoreBut what else?
