  • Monitor line performance and throughput; conduct time studies for efficiency.
  • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, suppliers, and stakeholders from concept to implementation.
  • Assist with facility planning, process development, and cost analysis.

Industrial Engineer IPosition Summary

The Industrial Engineer I is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations through the development and maintenance of production standards, labor planning, facility layouts, process improvements, and assembly line optimization. This role partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and other cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, support production goals, and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operation.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain production standards, line balances, and staffing requirements for all phases of assembly operations.
  • Develop and optimize material flow strategies, equipment layouts, and workstation configurations.
  • Analyze labor and material requirements related to engineering changes, cost reduction initiatives, and make-versus-buy evaluations.
  • Support implementation of manufacturing changes that impact production processes and workflows.
  • Monitor and optimize production line performance and throughput.
  • Conduct time studies and utilize industrial engineering techniques to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support standardized manufacturing operating systems and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, suppliers, and stakeholders to drive projects from concept through implementation.
  • Assist with facility planning, manufacturing process development, and cost analysis activities.
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and recommendations to support operational improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Equivalent industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required when substituting experience for education.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of initiative and accountability.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience within an automotive, heavy equipment, or high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing plant layouts, workforce planning models, and cost proposals.
  • Experience performing time studies, line balancing, and workstation optimization.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and 3D manufacturing visualization tools.
  • Experience with ERP, PLM, SharePoint, or similar manufacturing systems is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to regularly read detailed documents, reports, drawings, and computer screens.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through written correspondence.
  • Ability to move throughout office and manufacturing environments.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods as required.
Work Environment
  • Position operates in both office and manufacturing plant environments.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and industrial working conditions may occur.
  • Requires close collaboration with production, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Must be able to maintain focus and accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to follow established procedures while supporting continuous improvement efforts.
Travel Requirements

Moderate travel may be required based on project and business needs.
