Job summary

Franklin Electric in Wilburton, OK is seeking an Industrial Engineer to support production improvements, labor standards, and facility layout planning. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive efficiency and safety in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in a related field with 0–2 years of experience in industrial engineering, and has familiarity with Lean, 5S, and data analysis, plus CAD/Excel skills to map processes and support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing engineering (internships or co‑ops acceptable).
  • Basic understanding of time studies, work measurement, and labor standards development.
  • Exposure to facility layout planning, workflow optimization, or ergonomic assessments.
  • Familiarity with Lean, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Support investigations into production processes to identify opportunities for quality, cost, and throughput improvement.
  • Help develop standardized methods and procedures for manufacturing operations.
  • Assist in establishing labor standards using time studies and data analysis.
  • Plan facility layouts, material flow, and equipment placement to improve efficiency.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments to create safe and efficient workstations.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement process changes and monitor performance.
  • Analyze production data to support manpower planning and capacity assessments.
  • Contribute to cost‑reduction initiatives through waste elimination and better material handling.

What You Will Be Doing

What You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing, or related areas (internships or co‑ops acceptable).
  • Basic understanding of time studies, work measurement, and developing labor standards.
  • Exposure to facility layout planning, workflow optimization, or ergonomic assessments through coursework or early career experience.
  • Familiarity with Lean, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze production data and support process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to contribute effectively in cross‑functional environments.
  • Proficiency with common engineering tools and software (Excel, CAD, process mapping tools).
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to document and communicate process changes.
  • Willingness to learn manufacturing processes, material flow concepts, and cost‑reduction techniques.
Computer Skills
  • Intermediate: CAD software, alphanumeric data entry, spreadsheet.
  • Basic: Word processing/typing.
