Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Michigan is seeking an Industrial Engineer to drive labor planning, cycle time optimization, and continuous improvement for current and future vehicle programs in Final Assembly.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to assess new program content, complete time studies, and establish accurate labor standards while applying lean principles to improve efficiency and balance workloads. The role requires collaboration across Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience as an Industrial Engineer in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • 4+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • MODAPTS Certification.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • New model launch experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
  • Previous production supervision experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drive labor planning, cycle time optimization, and continuous improvement for current and future vehicle programs within Final Assembly.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to assess new program content, perform MODAPTS time studies, and establish labor standards.
  • Apply lean manufacturing and waste reduction principles to improve efficiency and support plant targets.
  • Analyze production constraints and cycle time data to optimize process flow and balance workloads.
  • Lead workstation layout changes, work balance adjustments, tooling improvements, and process documentation updates.
  • Perform ergonomic assessments and recommend safety improvements.
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and other plant functions to resolve issues tied to launches and operations.
  • Work with UAW representatives to address labor methods and standards compliance.
  • Support production leadership with labor planning for product mix changes and staffing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

In this role you will ...

Drive labor planning, cycle time optimization, and continuous improvement for current and future vehicle programs within Final Assembly, partnering across engineering, production, and skilled trades to build safe, efficient, and well-balanced manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

What you'll do ...

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to assess new program content, complete labor allocations, and perform MODAPTS time studies to establish accurate cycle times and labor standards.
  • Apply lean manufacturing and waste reduction principles to improve efficiency and support plant Industrial Engineering targets within Final Assembly.
  • Analyze production constraints and cycle time data to optimize process flow, balance workloads, and improve throughput.
  • Lead implementation of workstation layout changes, work balance adjustments, tooling improvements, material presentation enhancements, and process documentation updates.
  • Perform ergonomic assessments and recommend solutions that improve employee safety, reduce risk, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and other plant functions to resolve job-related issues tied to new model launches and ongoing operations.
  • Work with UAW representatives to address job disputes, evaluate methods, and maintain labor standard compliance.
  • Support production leadership with labor planning for product mix changes, line speed adjustments, staffing requirements, and operational readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance across manufacturing operations.
Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as an Industrial Engineer in a manufacturing plant environment

This position is a range of salary grades 6, 7 and 8.
