Job summary

Ichor Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer to optimize CNC milling and multi-axis processes, establish labor standards, and improve fixtures and tools for safer, more repeatable production.

You will collaborate with programmers and machinists on methods, speeds, and feeds, while supporting root-cause analysis and ERP data upkeep. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering and 5 years in precision machining, plus Lean/Six Sigma exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related mechanical discipline.
• 5 years of hands-on engineering in precision machining or metal-cutting manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate CNC milling, turning, and multi-axis processes to remove bottlenecks and scrap.
• Conduct time and motion studies to establish accurate labor standards and takt times.
• Design and improve fixtures, cutting tools, and automated loading equipment for safety and repeatability.
• Optimize shop floor layouts to improve material flow and reduce WIP.
• Collaborate with programmers and machinists to prove out new programs and refine cutting parameters.
• Partner with quality teams to resolve dimensional non-conformances and drive corrective actions (8D, Fishbone).
• Create and maintain accurate BOMs, routings, and process travelers in ERP.

• Layout & Flow Design: Optimize shop floor layouts for raw materials and finished parts to improve material flow and reduce Work-in-Process (WIP).

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related mechanical discipline.
• Experience: 5 years of hands-on engineering experience in a precision machining or metal-cutting manufacturing environment.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining operations, cutting tools, and blue-print reading/GD&T.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
• Methodologies: Working knowledge of Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma problem-solving frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with machine monitoring software (e.g., MachineMetrics) or advanced data analytics (Power BI).
• Experience with robotic automation or pallet-changer systems in high-mix/low-volume or high-volume machining cells.

For Candidates Based In Minnesota

The pay range for this position is $86,300 - $146,700 annually, exempt.

Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure, and relevant education or training.
