The Role

The Industrial Engineer is an experienced individual contributor who independently leads engineering activities supporting manufacturing operations and continuous improvement. This role applies sound technical judgment, analytical methods, lean manufacturing principles, and cross-functional leadership to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, ergonomics, and operational consistency. The engineer will serve as a technical resource for plant and manufacturing engineering teams, lead moderate-complexity projects, identify and resolve non-routine process issues, and recommend solutions that improve manufacturing systems and business performance.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Lead engineering studies and analyze manufacturing processes, throughput data, labor utilization, ergonomic risks, takt time, cycle time, and bottlenecks to identify data-driven improvement opportunities.
  • Drive lean and continuous-improvement initiatives that eliminate waste, improve flow, reduce cost, and increase operational effectiveness.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain standardized work documentation, including Standard Operation Sheets, Job Instructions, time studies, and material and information flow diagrams.
  • Identify opportunities to automate reports and repetitive activities through VBA, Python, Power BI, or other appropriate tools.
  • Ensure manufacturing concepts and standardized work meet safety, quality, ergonomic, delivery, cost, and productivity requirements.
  • Validate layouts, process documentation, standard times, material routes, staffing plans, and implementation readiness.
  • Communicate project status, risks, lessons learned, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Production, Automotive, or a related engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement, time studies, capacity analysis, and manufacturing layouts.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision and exercise sound judgment on significant matters.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional work and coordinate efforts across multiple functions and organizational levels.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver commitments on time.
  • Willingness to work in plant environments and travel when required.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts as needed.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Graduate degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with electric-vehicle, battery, propulsion, vehicle assembly, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, value-stream mapping, PFMEA, DFM/DFA, and Global Manufacturing System principles.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MES, Power BI, VBA, Python, or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting launch, takt-up/takt-down, plant expansion, or manufacturing transformation activities.
  • Experience working in a represented or union manufacturing environment.
