Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Automation Materials Industrial Engineer in Fort Wayne, IN. This role focuses on material simulation to validate flow strategies and optimize manufacturing efficiency across multiple facilities.

The ideal candidate will lead simulations, develop models, and drive continuous improvement with lean and Industry 4.0 principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 3–7 years of experience in industrial engineering or material simulation within a manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience working at General Motors.

Responsibilities

• Lead material flow simulations to evaluate line-side delivery, warehouse logistics, and automated material handling solutions.
• Develop and validate discrete-event simulation models to optimize labor, equipment, and space utilization.
• Partner with operations and engineering teams to ensure scalability and sustainability of material flow strategies.
• Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and ergonomic assessments to identify improvement opportunities.
• Create and maintain standard processes, metrics, and best practices for deployment across multiple facilities.
• Provide technical guidance on the integration of automation into plant operations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with lean manufacturing and Industry 4.0 practices.

Duration: 1 year contract with potential extensions/direct hire

Pay Rate: $35/hr-$49/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Must Haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (Masters preferred)
• 3–7 years of experience in industrial engineering or material simulation within a manufacturing environment.

• Experience with automation technologies (AMRs, AGVs, robotics integration).
