Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Automation Materials Industrial Engineer in Fort Wayne, IN to lead material flow simulations and validate line-side delivery, warehouse logistics, and automated material handling solutions.

The role develops discrete-event models, analyzes capacity, and partners with operations and engineering to scale best practices across facilities. 1-year contract with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (Masters preferred).
  • 3–7 years of experience in industrial engineering or material simulation within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as Siemens Plant Simulation, FlexSim, AutoMod, AnyLogic, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, PFEP (Plan for Every Part), and material flow optimization.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, develop insights, and present recommendations to leadership.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead material flow simulations to evaluate line-side delivery, warehouse logistics, and automated material handling solutions.
  • Develop and validate discrete-event simulation models to optimize labor, equipment, and space utilization.
  • Partner with operations and engineering teams to ensure scalability and sustainability of material flow strategies.
  • Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and ergonomic assessments to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Create and maintain standard processes, metrics, and best practices for deployment across multiple facilities.
  • Provide technical guidance on the integration of automation (AGVs/AMRs, conveyors, robotics) into plant operations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with lean manufacturing and Industry 4.0 practices.

Job description

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Duration: 1 year contract with potential extensions

Compensation: $42/hr to $50/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Must Haves:
