Job Description

Employee will be responsible for drafting, managing standardized work. Update layouts, managing the throughput improvement process and collaborating with UAW counterparts with relation to production IE/Ergo matters.

Job Responsibilities
  • Implement common Industrial Engineering business practices and processes.
  • Design work operations that meet safety, quality, and efficiency requirements with high integrity.
  • Maintain accurate time studies through motion analysis and application of standard time data.
  • Maintain accurate workstation layouts using computer aided drafting software (AutoCAD).
  • Drive Continuous Improvement efforts in assigned area through elimination of waste.
  • Evaluate bottleneck areas and support throughput and productivity improvements in assigned area.
  • Support change management projects by developing line balance plans and participating in production trials.
  • Reduce total cost by improving productivity metrics related to operator work loading and value-added percent.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing through implementation of GM's Global Manufacturing System.
  • Support implementation and training for standardized work development.
  • Become a coach and teacher of lean manufacturing principles to the production floor team members.
  • Drive problem solving efforts.
  • Work collaboratively as one team with all levels of the organization.
  • Develop relationships with Production department and related personnel.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of Engineering required.
  • 3-5 years of industrial engineering experience.
  • Experience working in manufacturing with a background in Continuous Improvement.
  • Experience in documentation of Standardized Work procedures.
  • Experience in implementation of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Knowledge of time study and motion analysis.
  • Working knowledge of computer aided drafting tools (AutoCAD).
  • Ability to adapt to different interpersonal styles and communication methods.
  • Self-motivated individual with Continuous Improvement focus.
  • Ability to work any shift, OT and weekend shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of human factors engineering / ergonomic analysis.
  • Previous experience with project management and time management.
  • Previous experience working in a Union Environment or Bargaining Unit.
  • Experience working in a plant with machining operations.

Monday - Friday
Onsite no remote
1st shift: 6:00am to 3:30pm
Occasional - Holidays and Weekends. Sometimes will need to do IE work on the weekend to support projects, on an as needed basis. This will not be every weekend.
