Job summary

Acro Service Corp seeks an Industrial Engineer to draft and manage standardized work, design efficient layouts with AutoCAD, and lead throughput improvements on the Michigan shop floor. You will collaborate with UAW counterparts on IE/Ergo matters while driving lean initiatives and continuous improvement across production lines.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, experience in manufacturing, and strong time study/motion analysis skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in manufacturing with a background in Continuous Improvement
  • Experience in documentation of Standardized Work procedures
  • Experience in implementation of Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Knowledge of time study and motion analysis
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Willingness to work any shift, OT and weekend shifts

Responsibilities

  • Draft, manage, and standardize work procedures.
  • Update layouts and improve throughput.
  • Collaborate with UAW counterparts on IE/Ergo matters.
  • Design work operations meeting safety, quality, and efficiency requirements.
  • Maintain accurate time studies through motion analysis and standard time data.
  • Maintain workstation layouts using AutoCAD.
  • Drive continuous improvement and reduce waste.
  • Evaluate bottlenecks and support throughput and productivity improvements.
  • Support line balance and production trials.
  • Reduce total cost by improving productivity metrics.
  • Promote lean manufacturing and GM’s Global Manufacturing System.
  • Support training for standardized work development.
  • Coach and teach lean manufacturing principles to floor teams.
  • Drive problem solving and teamwork across the organization.
  • Develop relationships with Production departments.

Job description

Employee will be responsible for drafting, managing standardized work. Update layouts, managing the throughput improvement process and collaborating with UAW counterparts with relation to production IE/Ergo matters.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
  • Implement common Industrial Engineering business practices and processes.
  • Design work operations that meet safety, quality, and efficiency requirements with high integrity.
  • Maintain accurate time studies through motion analysis and application of standard time data.
  • Maintain accurate workstation layouts using computer aided drafting software (AutoCAD).
  • Drive Continuous Improvement efforts in assigned area through elimination of waste.
  • Evaluate bottleneck areas and support throughput and productivity improvements in assigned area.
  • Support change management projects by developing line balance plans and participating in production trials.
  • Reduce total cost by improving productivity metrics related to operator work loading and value-added percent.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing through implementation of GM’s Global Manufacturing System.
  • Support implementation and training for standardized work development.
  • Become a coach and teacher of lean manufacturing principles to the production floor team members.
  • Drive problem solving efforts.
  • Work collaboratively as one team with all levels of the organization.
  • Develop relationships with Production department and related personnel.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in manufacturing with a background in Continuous Improvement.
  • Experience in documentation of Standardized Work procedures.
  • Experience in implementation of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Knowledge of time study and motion analysis.
  • Working knowledge of computer aided drafting tools (AutoCAD).Ability to adapt to different interpersonal styles and communication methods.
  • Self-motivated individual with Continuous Improvement focus.
  • Ability to work any shift, OT and weekend shifts.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Knowledge of human factors engineering / ergonomic analysis.
  • Previous experience with project management and time management.
  • Previous experience working in a Union Environment or Bargaining Unit.

Experience working in a plant with machining operations.
