Job description

The Industrial Electronics instructor is to support the College's mission and underlying principles by providing quality instruction in scheduled Industrial Electronics and Electrical Technology classes that are aligned with the needs of the College's service area. Planning. teaching, reporting, recordkeeping, student recruitment, student advisement, counseling. job placement and follow-up are integral parts of the teaching position.

Salary Schedule Placement:

Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule D1 IB-IV ($43,792 - $98,138) based on education and experience. Summer appointments are based on enrollment- Salary Schedule D1 ($13,521-$30,351) based on education and experience. Annual Potential Salary including Summer Appointment ($57,313-$128,489)

  1. Teach 30-35 contact hours or 15-16 credit hours per semester.
  2. Regular and consistent attendance at work.
  3. Instructor must be available to teach credit courses during day, night, weekend classes, and noncredit training opportunities if necessary.
  4. Prepare, update, revise and maintain current course syllabus according to guidelines of the Alabama Community College System, Department Chair and faculty as necessary.
  5. Develop and implement a program of instruction that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students and is consistent with local and state plan of study and curriculum guides.
  6. Plan and employ a variety of appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities which are compatible with the physical facility but serve the needs and capabilities of the students.
  7. Plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and the needs and abilities of students.
  8. Coordinate apprenticeships, internships, and Co-op with Industry to include tracking and maintaining records on student progress.
  9. Good knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment of instructional specialty.
  10. Prepare and maintain program budget
  11. Maintain lab equipment and supplies
  12. Prepare program course offerings for schedule for each semester.
  13. Develop and evaluate Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for instructional specialty.
  14. Collaborate with Manufacturing Division to develop and implement divisional goals.
  15. Good knowledge of the institution’s program of studies related to mission, goals and organization.
  16. Maintain contact with business and industry and other potential employers.
  17. Recruit students into program and advise them through completion.
  18. Serve on divisional, institutional, and state-wide committees as appointed.
  19. Work with the college ADA coordinator to provide appropriate accommodation for identified students
  20. Maintain and conduct scheduled office hours for student conferences
  21. Maintain mastery knowledge in electrical, industrial electronics and industrial automation.
  22. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

  1. Associate Degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Electronics or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  2. Three (3) years of documented full-time experience as a technician in the electrical, industrial electronics or industrial maintenance field.
  3. Basic computer skills.
PREFERRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, AND SPECIAL SKILLS:
  1. State Board of Electrical Contractors license or Journeyman Electrician’s License.
  2. Ability to create, troubleshoot and modify PLC programs.
  3. Professional experience with industrial electrical equipment installation and repair, including VFDs, motor controls, and hydraulic or pneumatic equipment.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Good written and oral communication skills.
  2. Ability to effectively respond to questions from supervisors, faculty, staff, students and the general public.
  3. Must be computer literate; be able to use basic Microsoft Office, email, and online documentation
  4. Must pursue industry-recognized credentials as determined by the College (examples: ETA, Siemens MSSC or other Mechatronics System Certification). Ability to travel as required by the College.
