Job summary

The Detroit Salt Company is seeking an Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems powering mining equipment and infrastructure. You will work on underground and surface electrical systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and optimal performance in an industrial setting.

This hands-on role requires proficiency with high voltage systems, PLCs, blueprints, and electrical diagnostics, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork within a historic mining operation.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work any shift.
• Familiar with high voltage (600-1200v) systems and PLC troubleshooting in industrial/mining environments.
• High voltage experience (1200v highly preferred).
• High school diploma/GED required.
• 4+ years experience as an Electrician in an industrial environment.
• Experience with blueprints, drawings, layouts or specifications.
• Knowledge of equipment: switch gear, motor starters, transformers, generators, relay logic, PLC, VFD, etc.
• Working knowledge of lifting devices, hand tools, and power tools.
• Must be able to read, speak, and comprehend English.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical equipment and power/lighting systems.
• Test operation of electrical machinery and control equipment.
• Work 480 VAC 3 phase motor control systems.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical systems and components.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas.
• Complete paperwork accurately during and after shifts.
• Operate with minimal supervision and follow safety policies.
