Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Chino, New Mexico, near Silver City, seeks an experienced Electrical/Instrumentation technician to maintain and repair industrial systems.

The role requires strong fault diagnosis, preventive maintenance, and hands-on electrical work in a 24/7 operation. You will troubleshoot AC/DC drives, PLCs, instrumentation, and related equipment, install and commission systems, and ensure compliance with SOPs and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in industrial electrical/instrumentation repair and maintenance.
• Ability to read technical manuals, prints and schematics for troubleshooting and repair.
• Strong written and verbal communication to satisfy training and safety policies.
• Must have minimum personal tools or obtain them within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Removal, repair and installation of electrical components, systems and instrumentation; diagnose and troubleshoot and optimize processes.
• Safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs and construction.
• Perform preventive maintenance on industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment including substations, switchgear, motors and process controls.
• Follow SOPs and safety/environmental activities and use plant equipment correctly.
• Mentor or train other electrical workers where applicable.
