Job summary

Johns Manville is hiring an experienced Electrician for our Willows, CA facility. You will complete work orders, maintain electrical systems, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure maximum productivity.

The role requires reading electrical prints, following safety procedures, and coordinating with supervisors on issues and maintenance planning. Ideal candidates have 3+ years’ verified electrician experience, knowledge of electrical distribution systems, and ability to comply with applicable codes.

Qualifications

  • Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
  • High school level math, language and reasoning skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of verified electrician experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, codes and safety.
  • Ability to read electrical prints and diagnose faults.

Responsibilities

  • Identify equipment issues and report to supervisors.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Assemble and install electrical circuits, motors, switches, and controllers.

  • Read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and drawings.
  • Start, stop, and monitor power distribution equipment.
  • Operate and lift to service and repair equipment.

Compensation

The base hourly rate for this position is $37.38.

Your Day-to-Day
  • NOT qualified for shift coverage.
  • Complete all work orders as assigned.
  • Be an active participant in the safety process and practice safe work habits at all times.
  • Maintain equipment and systems for maximum productivity levels.
  • Identify any equipment issues and bring them to supervisors' attention.
  • Assist with the preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Assemble and install all types of new or repaired electrical circuits, systems, instrumentation and equipment, including, but not limited to, motors, regulators, controllers, generators, switches, etc.
  • Inspect electrical equipment and machinery, diagnose faulty operation, determine proper corrective action, document in maintenance scheduling program, and make indicated repairs.
  • Read, comprehend and make basic electrical prints and mark up for electrical installations.
  • Start, stop, maintain, and help install and repair generating and power distribution equipment.
  • Dismantle and assemble electrical motors and allied equipment of most types; repairing cleaning and replacing parts.
  • Install and repair electrical conduit and cable, including connections, controls, grounding, etc.
  • Operate with high level professionalism and teamwork orientation.
  • Make out work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, time distribution, material usage, etc., and perform other clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed.
What you Bring to the Team
  • The ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
  • At least a high school level of math, language and reasoning skills.
  • A minimum of 3 years of verified experience as an electrician.
  • Make meggar, voltmeter, ammeter, ground locating and other electrical tests. Possess working knowledge of electrical distribution systems and switchgear. Must know Underwriter codes, national codes, state and local codes, company rules and regulations and comply with them.
  • Keep current with the latest types of electrical controls, motors, AC/ DC Drives, (PLC) Programmable Logic Controllers, (HMI) Human Machine Interfaces and industrial lighting equipment.
  • Configure, commission, troubleshoot & start up any AC/ DC Drive, any (HMI) Human Machine Interface current, (PLC) Programmable Logic Controller or (DCS) Distributive Control System, current and future.
  • The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and drawings.
  • The proven ability to troubleshoot and handle multiple priorities and projects.
  • The ability to write routine reports and correspondence legibly.
  • The ability to operate various types of mobile equipment such as scissor lifts, boom lifts, lift trucks, etc. and the ability to obtain a license to operate them.
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, climb stairs, reach, and stoop frequently.
  • The ability to manually lift at least 50 pounds safely and with proper body mechanics, sometimes while in awkward positions.
  • The ability to work at heights.
  • The ability to execute both fine and gross motor hand movements.
  • The ability to work safely in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful work environment.
  • The ability to safely and effectively work in an often-dusty work environment that experiences a broad range of temperatures (very hot to very cold).
