Job summary

Morgan Olson LLC seeks an Maintenance Technician - Electrical in Sturgis, MI. You will install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on CNC machinery and robotics, with emphasis on safety and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has a two-year technical degree and a Journeyman’s license, plus experience with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial automation. Willingness to travel and work overtime is required to keep our production lines running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical issues on CNC machines and related equipment using schematics and testing tools.
  • Install, maintain, and upgrade electrical systems including motors, drives, PLCs, and control panels.
  • Accurately report conditions and activities to production and maintenance staff.
  • Work with minimal supervision while coordinating repairs across departments.
  • Travel as needed for training or cross-line tasks.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and PLC diagrams; participate in TPMs/PMs as required.
  • Complete TPMs, PMs, PPS reports accurately and timely; adhere to safety policies 100%.

Job Title: Maintenance Technician - Electrical
Job Description:

This position is responsible for the installation & troubleshooting of all CNC machines and misc. other equipment with minimum assistance and performing TPMs in a timely manner with proper coordination with production, engineering, and other departments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance within an industrial setting. Successful candidates will have forward-thinking, continuous improvement capabilities, and maintain 100% adherence to Morgan Olson’s safety & PPS practices and policies, along with excellent attendance, self-motivation, teamwork skills, and the ability to work overtime as needed.

Essential Functions and Activities:
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical issues using schematics, diagrams and testing equipment on CNCs and other related production and facility machine-related items, including robotics and laser systems.
  • Install, maintain and upgrade electrical systems including motors, drives, PLC’s and control panels
  • Accurately report technical conditions and information on all facets of maintenance as needed to production and maintenance employees.
  • Work as required with minimal or no supervision, along with the ability to multi-task and prioritize small to large repairs. Schedule repairs through completion as needed on a regular basis.
  • Travel as needed. (Possible training, crossline action, etc.).
  • Interact with other employees on use and repair of CNC & other misc. equipment in a complete and organized manner.
  • Must be proficient at reading and interpreting blueprints, misc. PLCs, ladder logic, and various schematics associated with production and facility equipment (Programming preferred).
  • Complete required weekly & monthly TPMs, PM’s & PPS reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Adheres to Safety policies and practices behavioral based safety 100% of the time.
Physical Requirements/Hazards:
  • Job requires extensive standing, stooping, or bending, lifting, reaching, twisting, and turning to assemble parts. Lifting will involve fabricated parts and assemblies weighing anywhere from several pounds to 50 pounds. Parts weighing more than 50 pounds are handled with a hoist or with help from another team member.
  • PPE:Safety shoes, Safety glasses with side shields are always required. Other PPE such as hearing protection, gloves, safety goggles, respirators, etc. may be required depending upon the task at hand.
Qualifications:
  • Two-year technical school degree in Engineering principles, a Journeyman’s license, or a suitable combination of education and work experience
  • Experience in computer software/file management is required
  • Must be able to read schematics and blueprints
  • Experience with PLC’s, VFD”s and industrial automation systems required
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills overall
  • Ability to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends when needed
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without the aid
