Job summary

Gerdau Steel in Petersburg, VA is seeking an Industrial Electrician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic controls across heavy manufacturing systems. You will work on AC/DC motor controls, PLCs, high-voltage installations, and various hydraulic/pneumatic systems, with a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.

Ideal candidates have Ramsey Electrical exam completion and 3–5 years of related experience, strong schematic reading, and proficiency with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens)

Qualifications

• Completion of Ramsey Electrical exam.
• 3–5 years of heavy manufacturing electrical maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of AC/DC motor theory, PLC troubleshooting, and high-voltage systems.
• Ability to read schematics and use electrical maintenance tools.
• Ability to work Dupont 4/3 schedule with 12 hr rotating shifts: days, nights, and two consecutive weekends.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic controls and systems.
• Perform rounds and check machinery to identify abnormalities.
• Troubleshoot AC/DC motor controls, PLC, electrical drives, and high-voltage systems.
• Inspect and maintain shop machinery, mobile equipment, PLC networks, and cranes.
• Service pumps, motors, cranes, hydraulic/pneumatic systems as needed.
• Lay out, install, and maintain electronically-controlled equipment.
• Balance loads and wire complex circuits.
• Interpret schematics and blueprints; provide technical assistance as needed.
