Job summary

Gerdau is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to lead rollings mill automation projects, troubleshoot major failures, and drive continuous improvement across electrical and control systems. You will work with production and maintenance to ensure reliable operations and safety compliance.

The role emphasizes PLC programming, HMI enhancements, and experienced integration of Siemens, Allen Bradley, and GE control platforms to optimize throughput and equipment reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering with 5 years manufacturing experience programming PLCs.
  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC controls and motors and drives.
  • Ability to oversee electrical projects from design through safety compliant operation.

Responsibilities

  • Modify PLCs to support operations using GE, Toshiba, RX3i, GE Genius I/O networks, Siemens S7/TIA, and Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Modify HMI to support operations with Cimplicity, Ignition, WINCC, or Rockwell software.
  • Troubleshoot automation, communication, or HMI issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead failure analysis, planning, and major equipment modification projects for continuous improvement.

The position works closely with production and maintenance personnel, as well as management to ensure continuous operation and continuous improvement of equipment, and processes.
