Job summary

Sonoco Products Co. in Memphis, TN is hiring an Industrial Electrician/Instrumentation Tech responsible for maintaining plant equipment and reducing downtime.

The role reports to the Plant Engineer on Presidents Island and offers a competitive wage with a $2,500 sign-on bonus. The ideal candidate has 5 years of industrial electrical experience, a Journeyman or Industrial Electrician license within 6 months, and strong PLC/HMI troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

• Have 5 years industrial/commercial electrician experience.
• Journeyman License or Industrial Electrician License required within 6 months of employment.
• Vocational training preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot PLC, HMI and electrical issues.
• Read electrical prints and perform job layouts for electrical devices and circuitry.
• Pneumatic control or hydraulic system experience preferred.
• Familiar with the use of a welder and an oxy-acetylene torch.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance as assigned daily, weekly, monthly, etc.
• Sign out all parts taken from the storeroom returning any that were not used
• Fill out work order detail
• Help troubleshoot and repair operational equipment as needed
• Participate in the continuous improvement efforts on maintenance effectiveness to eliminate breakdowns and increase equipment reliability.
• Inspects assigned equipment to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
• Verifies all safety devices (guards, control circuit devices, stop blocks, etc.) on assigned equipment are always intact and properly secured.
• Follows all energy isolation requirements.
