Job summary

Dorman is seeking an Industrial Electrician to maintain and repair a wide range of production equipment. This full‑time role focuses on diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring safety standards are met across facilities in the US.

You will work with hydraulic/pneumatic controls, VFDs, and rotating machinery, following LOTO procedures and documenting work orders to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical maintenance training desirable.
  • Industry maintenance experience in manufacturing or similar environments.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic control systems in production equipment.
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain motors, VFDs, motor controls, and 480V electrical systems.
  • Inspect, align, and lubricate bearings and rotating components for reliability.
  • Perform preventive maintenance per company protocols to avoid downtime.
  • Read and apply electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals for repairs.

Job Summary

The Industrial Electrician, formally recognized as Maintenance Tech IV within our operations, plays a pivotal role in sustaining the efficiency and safety of our production facilities. This full-time position calls for a seasoned professional adept at diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a broad range of industrial equipment and systems to support seamless manufacturing processes.

Primary Duties
  • Conduct comprehensive troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems integral to production machinery.
  • Skilled diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, including motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor controls, and control circuits operating up to 480 volts, ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards.
  • Perform detailed inspection, replacement, precise alignment, and lubrication of bearings and other critical rotating components to optimize equipment performance and lifespan.
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance programs in accordance with company protocols and industry best practices to proactively avert equipment failures.
  • Operate hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments, in a safe and effective manner to facilitate repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Investigate mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures to minimize production downtime through timely and accurate solutions.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) activities for repeated or significant equipment malfunctions, implementing corrective actions that enhance operational reliability and reduce unexpected stoppages.
  • Interpret and utilize electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide repair, installation, and maintenance efforts.
  • Install, calibrate, and test machinery and control systems to verify operational integrity and safety compliance before commissioning.
  • Maintain precise documentation of work orders, maintenance activities, and equipment histories using company-maintained systems and software.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Contribute expertise to equipment upgrade initiatives, new installations, and facility improvement projects aiming to elevate production capabilities and safety standards.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, providing support to production teams to minimize operational interruptions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for enhancing equipment reliability, suggest process improvements, and recommend robust preventive maintenance strategies aligned with continuous improvement goals.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED is mandatory; completion of technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance or related disciplines is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in industrial maintenance or manufacturing environments, demonstrating familiarity with the demands and safety practices of such settings.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in working with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor controls, and electrical systems rated up to 480 volts.
  • Hands‑on experience with bearing replacement, alignment techniques, and maintaining mechanical components of rotating equipment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of preventive maintenance methodologies and implementation within an industrial context.
  • Competent and safe use of standard hand and power tools required for equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Capability to interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals accurately to perform maintenance activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, enabling effective resolution of complex equipment issues and communication with team members and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders and maintenance history.
  • Basic welding and light fabrication skills to support repairs and modifications, though not a strict requirement.
  • Relevant industrial maintenance certifications or advanced technical education credentials.
  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills to efficiently identify and resolve electrical faults in industrial systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for maintaining and repairing complex machinery and equipment.
  • Commitment to equipment reliability and minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance and effective repairs.

The US base rate for this full‑time position is 32.60. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job‑related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
