Job summary

Dayton Parts in Harrisburg is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer & Toolmaker for our manufacturing operation. This hands-on role focuses on programming, building, repairing, and improving tooling and equipment that directly impacts production.

You will partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to manufacture custom components and drive continuous improvement across the facility. Role offers 2nd/3rd shifts with pay of $24–$32 per hour plus shift differential.

Qualifications

  • CNC programming experience with the ability to independently write/modify programs.
  • CNC lathe experience required.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes.
  • Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling, and material properties.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Preferred: Toolmaker/Tool & Die/Maintenance Machinist background.
  • CAD/CAM software experience and manufacturing support.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes to manufacture custom parts.
  • Write, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs using G-Code and controls.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T requirements, and specifications to produce precision components.
  • Design, build, modify tooling, fixtures, jigs, and manufacturing aids that support production operations.
  • Perform machine setups, tooling selection, offset adjustments, and prove-out of new programs.
  • Manufacture replacement parts for equipment repairs and plant improvement projects.
  • Utilize manual machining equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and saws as required.
  • Inspect completed work using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with Engineering and Maintenance teams on process improvements and equipment upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and maintenance documentation.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

Dayton Parts is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer & Toolmaker to support our Harrisburg manufacturing operation. This is not a repetitive production machining role. We are looking for a hands-on machining professional who enjoys programming, building, repairing, and improving tooling and equipment that directly impacts manufacturing performance.

In this role, you'll partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to manufacture custom components, develop tooling solutions, troubleshoot production challenges, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Shift Options
  • 2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday, 2:30 PM - 10:30 PM
  • 3rd Shift: Sunday - Thursday, 10:30 PM - 6:30 AM
    Pay for this role is 24$ - 32$ an hour + Shift Differential.
Primary Duties
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes to manufacture custom parts, fixtures, tooling, and production components.

Education / Experience

Applicants should possess relevant vocational training or certifications in CNC machining or related fields. Prior hands-on experience operating various machine tools and precision measuring instruments is preferred. Candidates should be familiar with interpreting technical drawings and specifications. Physical capability to handle moderate to heavy lifting and to perform tasks that may require climbing or operating industrial equipment like forklifts is essential. Continuous learning mindset and adherence to industry best practices will contribute to success in this role.

The US base rate for this full-time position is 28. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
