Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Industrial Electrician Journeyman is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within a manufacturing facility. This role ensures optimal operation of production machinery, including stamping presses and automated systems, while maintaining safety, quality, and uptime standards.

JOB TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position. However, the supervisor or manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including power distribution, control panels, and industrial wiring.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues in stamping presses, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and automated production equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on presses and related equipment.
  • Work with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) to diagnose faults and assist in programming adjustments.
  • Maintain and repair motors, drives, sensors, relays, and control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize downtime in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to improve equipment reliability.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Journeyman Electrician certification
  • 8+ years of industrial electrical experience (manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems
  • Experience with stamping presses or heavy manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to read electrical prints and troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Familiarity with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics is a plus.
  • Ability to work shifts and overtime as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Duties include but are not limited to stand, walk, twist, bend, lift, see, talk and hear, with an ability to travel.
  • When visiting plant site locations, employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration or hazardous materials.
