Job summary

SeAH Steel USA in Houston, TX seeks an industrial electrician to maintain plant electrical systems, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot malfunctions to OEM specifications, and uphold strict safety protocols in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, diagnosing issues with motors, drives, PLCs, control panels and sensors; reading schematics; keeping maintenance records; and ensuring equipment reliability and uptime across production lines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; electrical certification/degree preferred.
  • 4–6 years in an industrial electrical environment; induction equipment experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of 480V 3-phase systems, VFDs, and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals; diagnose and repair to OEM specs.
  • Strong safety awareness and teamwork in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment reliability and uptime with operating personnel.
  • Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions to OEM specifications.
  • Regularly inspect electrical equipment performance.
  • Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders.
  • Adhere to PPE policies, SOPs, and JSAs.
  • Operate within startup/shutdown/changeover activities for equipment reliability.
  • Install, repair, and maintain motors, drives, PLCs, control panels, and sensors.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and use testing equipment for diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to improve performance.
  • Attend Line-Out meetings to coordinate daily activities.

Job description

This position requiresa high levelof technicalexpertisein industrial electrical systems, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety protocols. You willbe responsible forensuringoptimaloperation of plant equipment and electrical systems in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain a good working relationship with Operating personnel to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Analytically troubleshoot and resolve electrical malfunctions back to OEM Specifications.
  • Routinely checkthe performance of electrical equipment.
  • The employeeis responsible formaintainingmaintenance records, inspection reports, and processing Work Orders.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work area. Must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  • Attend andparticipatein Line-Out meetings to communicate daily activities between incoming and outgoing Maintenance shift crews.
  • Make necessary equipment repairs during the shift to maintain equipment availability for production.
  • Participate in production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers as it pertains to equipment reliability and availability.
  • Perform required Daily, Weekly,Quarterlyand Annual check sheets asestablishedby the Maintenance Department and O.E.M. suppliers.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, andmaintainindustrial electrical equipment including motors, drives, PLCs, control panels, and sensors.
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Diagnose electrical issues using advanced testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, megohmmeters, thermalimaging).
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to improve equipment performance

Qualifications / Competencies

  • Education:
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required.
  • An electrical certification or technical degreeis preferred.
  • Years of Experience:
  • 4 – 6 years of experience preferred.Workingin Industrial Electricalenvironmentand 2 years of experience working with Induction Electrical Equipment.
  • Job Knowledge:
  • Required Knowledge of Industrial Welding and Annealing operations. Minimum 2 years of experience in High Frequency Induction Welding.Thermatoolor EFD.
  • Install, test, and commission induction heating equipment and control systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and control system issues in induction machinery.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment as an electrical technician.
  • Proficient with 480V 3-phase systems, VFDs, PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), and industrial automation systems.
  • Minimum 2 years of experienceAllen Bradley:ControlLogix Series, CompactLogix Series,MicroLogix Series.
  • Employees must be able to work with a flexible or rotating schedule which may require overtime when needed.
  • Experience with PLC programming and HMI systems (Allen Bradley)
  • Read, write & speak English in a clear and effective manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Welding or mechanical maintenance skills a plus
  • Strong understanding of power electronics, control systems, and high-frequency AC power.
  • Safety:
  • Understands allapplicableplant safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.

Physical Requirements & Working conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are notpermittedon site.
  • The ability to lift 25/50pounds regularly.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
  • The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
  • Ability toidentifyand distinguish colors.

Direct Reports/ Authorities

  • This position has the authority to stop an operation if hedeemsit necessary, for reasons of imminent safety and/orpossible equipmentdamage. However, he/she must notify the Operations Supervisor on duty and follow the established notification procedure if the interruption is for an extendedtime period.
